Safurov Firudin Sattarovich was born in Baku. In 1951, after graduating from a musical college, he entered the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire named after U. Gadjibekov, and graduated it in 1957 as a musician - performer. From 1953 to 1964 he worked in Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra. From 1964 to 1968 he studied at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov. From 1969 to 1977 he worked as the chief director of the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. F. Akhundov, where he staged a number of operas that received public recognition. Among them - "Ker-Ogly", "Leyli and Majnun" by U. Gadjibekov, "The Queen of Spades" by P.I. Tchaikovsky, "Optimistic tragedy" by A. Kholminov, "Sayat-Nova" by A. Arutyunyan, "Van–Gogh” by N. Codalla. In 1977 he was invited to the post of chief director at the Bolshoi Theater named after A. Navoi (Tashkent). Over the period of his creative activity he has staged more than 50 opera performances. Many of them were widely known and granted with various awards. Among the staged performances: "Peter the First" by A. Petrov (awarded the State Prize of Uzbekistan), "Fiery Angel" by S. Prokofiev (opera was first staged in full author's edition), “Othello”, “Aida”, “Ball – Masquerade”, “Troubadour", "La Traviata" by J. Verdi, "Faust" by Sh. Gounod, "Samson and Delilah" by K. Saint-Saens, "Queen of Spades", ”Iolanta" by P.I. Tchaikovsky, "The marriage bill” by J. Rossini, “La Boheme” by J. Puccini, “Carmen” by J. Bizet, “The Orchestra” by F. Yanov-Yanovsky, “The Human Voice” by F. Poulenc, “Abu-Khasan” by K. M. Weber, "Meysar's tricks" by S. Yudakov, "Buran" by M. Ashrafi and S. Vasilenko, "Omar Khayyam" by M. Bafoyev, "Mother's Heart" by H. Rakhimov, "Sadokat", "Khiva Order" by R. Abdullaev, "The King of Beasts" by A. Mansurov, and others. Significant productions of the director in other cities and countries: "The Queen of Spades" in Odessa, "Othello" in Voronezh, "Faust" in Samara, "Aida", "Queen of Spades" and "Faust" in Alma-Ata, “Van Gogh” in Baku, "Sadokat" in Samarkand, "Leili and Majnun" in Bilkent (Turkey), etc. In 1982 he was a participant of the XXVI Berlin Theater and Music Festival. In addition, Safarov carried out about 50 major festive concerts in Uzbekistan. Among them - "Days of literature and art" in Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, and Tajikistan. F. Safarov pays great attention to pedagogical activity, being a professor at the Department of Opera Training at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan. In 1992 he was awarded the title of "People's Artist of Azerbaijan". In 1986 he was awarded the title of "People's Artist of Uzbekistan". In 1981 he was awarded the title of " Honored Art Worker of Uzbekistan". In 1958 he became a laureate of the All-Union Contest of Variety Artists. In 1957 he became the owner of the silver medal and the title of Laureate of the World Festival of Youth and Students (Moscow).
