Prologue
Night and a storm on the sea favor corsairs.
The ship of pirates under the leadership of Conrad meets with the merchant's brig, on which slaves and valuable cargo are carried. The brig of the slavers was boarded. Corsairs take away slaves and valuable goods, and the brig is sunk. The leader of the corsairs, Conrad, draws attention to the slave Medora. He is struck by her beauty.

The ship sticks to a rocky island thrown into the sea - a refuge of corsairs. Pirates return with booty.
Birbanto - the assistant to the leader of corsairs - suggests to celebrate a successful return.
After a fun, everyone diverge. The slaves, noticing Conrad's attention to Medora, ask her to help them return to their homeland.
Conrad concedes to the request of Medora and releases the slaves to freedom.
For the first time in many years, there is discord between pirates, between Birbanto and Conrad. The generous act of Conrad was the reason for this.
After a failed attack on Conrad, Birbanto is preparing a conspiracy against him. He persuades his associates to take revenge on Conrad. Pirates swear allegiance to Birbanto.
