Eddi De Nadai



             Eddi De Nadai takes his place as an orchestra conductor after a long period of experience as vocal Coach in several theatres: in Italy, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Teatro la Fenice in Venice, Teatro Sociale in Trento, Teatro Lirico – Sperimentale in Spoleto; in Germany, Staatsoper, Hannover; and the State Opera in Smirne, Turkey, where he also worked as Assistant to several conductors.

            After receiving his diplomas in Pianoforte and Harpsichord at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice, Italy, he went on to study the Vocal Repertory with Erik Werba in Wien and at Carpi Vocal Chamber Music Festival.

            He studied Orchestral Conducting at the Accademia Europea di Vicenza with Romolo Gessi and at Berliner Meisterkurse with Lior Shambadal and the Berliner Symphoniker Chamber Orchestra, and with Deyan Pavlov in Sophia.

In 2007 he won the international audition for vocal coachat the Fondazione Arena in Verona.

            From 2000 to 2004 he was responsible for the coaching of the Italian repertory at the State Opera in Izmir,Turkey, where he was also guest conductor.

            After his debut in the spring of  2003 with the Hungarian Symphonic Orchestra in Pécs, Hungary, he conducted a production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia and several operatic and symphonic concerts at the State Opera Theatre in Izmir, Turkey, where he returned upon invitation in 2004 to conduct Norma and Rigoletto.

            Since then he has conducted the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Mitteleuropea, Orchestra Sinfonica of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta ‘G. F. Malipiero’, the Orchestra “Bruni” di Cuneo (Italy), the Orquesta Sinfonica de Cordoba (Argentina), the Slovenian RTV Symphony Orchestra, the Lubiana Opera Orchestra, the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra, the Orquesta de Cordoba (Spain), the Orchestra of Belgrade National Opera, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Transilvania, the Chisinau Philharmonic Orchestra (Moldovia), the Rumanian Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau, the Philharmonic Orchestras of Odessa, Kharkov, Chernivtsy, Lugansk, Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk (Ukraine), the IKO Italia Orchestra, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Vidin (Bulgaria), the Symphony Orchestra of Albanian Television, the Orchestra of Tirana State Opera, the Camerata of Tirana, the Kiev String’s Orchestra, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Chamber Orchestra and the “Smyrna” Chamber Orchestra (Turkey), in operatic and symphonic programmes, working with soloists like the mezzosoprano Luciana D’Intino, the cellist Rocco Filippini, the pianists Bruno Canino and Enrico Pieranunzi and many others.

            In 2004 he conducted Rigoletto and in 2006 Don Pasquale at the Lyric Opera of Craiova, Rumania. In two long tours organized by the association Coordinamento Teatrale Trentino (Italy), he conducted Traviata in 2005 and Rigoletto in 2006.

            In 2006, to enthusiastic reviews, he conducted Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera at the Tirana State Opera, the first performance ever in Albania, and Nabucco with Teatro Lirico Europeo Opera Company (Italian tour 2007). Again at Tirana State Opera he conducted Norma in 2009 and Elisir d’amore in 2012.

In 2008 May he conducted a Gala – Concert at Tashkent Opera “Puccini Festival” (Uzbekistan). At Tashkent Bolshoi Theater for Opera and Ballet, where he is guest conductor from 2009 nowadays, he conducted L’Elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Traviata, Rigoletto, La Bohème, Tosca, Il Trovatore.

At Tashkent Opera and Tashkent State Conservatory of Musica he regularly gives masterclass about Italian Opera repertory.

In 2010 May he had his debut in Japan, conducting the Mozart Anniversary Orchestra at Hoya Komorebi Hall in Tokyo.

In 2009 he conducted Il Trovatore in the summer Italian tour of IKO Italia (7 performances, one of them in the famous Roman Ancient Theater of Ostia Antica – Rome).

Recently he conducted Ghedini’s Concerto dell’Albatro with the Symphony Orchestra of Albanian State Television and the soloists Suela Piciri violin, Rocco Filippini cello and Bruno Canino piano.

In 2012 he conducted Nabucco at Ljubljana State Opera (Slovenia), as the opening production of the season.

In 2013, February, he got an extraordinary success conducting the Orchestra and Choir of Belgrade National Opera, with a program dedicated to Verdi’s anniversary.

Again a huge success he got with the Orquesta de Cordoba (Spain), described by critics as an “excellent interpretation offered through the prism of a direction attentive, articulate and measured”.

In 2016 July he conducted the world premiere of the opera Menocchio by Renato Miani at the opening night of 25° Mittelfest in Cividale del Friuli (Italy) and Madama Butterfly at 62nd Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago (Italy).

At Trieste and Pisa Opera Theaters in 2016 he conducted Britten’s The little sweep.

After La Cecchina by Piccinni in 2017 at Treviso Opera Theater, he was invited once more to conduct Piazzolla’s Maria de Buenos Aires in 2018.

In 2018 he conducted the world premiere of the cantata Requies by Mauro Montalbetti (written for the anniversary of the end of the 1st Mondial War) at Milan Triennale, Brescia Teatro Grande and Pordenone Theater.

At San Vito Summer Opera Festival (Friuli Venezia Giulia), he conducted Nabucco (2007), Il Trovatore (2009), L’Elisir d’amore (2010), Carmen (2011), Rigoletto (2012), Traviata (2013, Madama Butterfly (2014), Bohème (2015), Aida (2016), Gianni Schicchi and Cavalleria Rusticana (2017), Nabucco (2018), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (2019), Don Pasquale (2021).

At Taormina Opera Stars Festival 2015 he conducted Nabucco and Aida, staged by Enrico Stinchelli.

In 2011 he conducted Cavalleria Rusticana at the well known Summer Opera Festival of Abbazia di Casamari (Italy) and in 2014 Tosca.

 

 

Eddi De Nadai is the Artistic Director of International Festival of Sacred Music – Pordenone (31 editions in 2022), Ensemble Orpheus (Ensemble for the 20th century’s music), San Vito Summer Opera Festival, “Seghizzi” Vocal Chamber Music International Competition.

He is also the founder and artistic director of the educational program “All’Opera, ragazzi!” in Pordenone, dedicated to the musical theatre contemporary repertory for children.

Since the debut of the program in 2006 he staged several operas as well as The little sweep (Britten), Il vestito nuovo dell’imperatore (Furlani), Arcibaldo Sonivari (Pagotto), La Fuggitiva (Gregoretti), La notte di San Silvestro (Miani), Il Mago di Oz (Valtinoni), Racconto di Natale (Galante), Il Piccolo Principe (Valtinoni).

 

            Working with internationally known singers such as Luciana D’Intino, Katia Ricciarelli, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Leo Nucci, Maria Chiara, Daniela Mazzucato, Beniamino Prior, he has performed in important venues in Europe, Eastern Europe, the North Africa, the Near East, the United States and Japan.

            He has taught courses on Italian Opera Repertory at Wesleyan College, Georgia, USA, and at the Conservatory in Izmir, Turkey, at Tirana Academy of Arts and for years he taught at the summer courses at the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposium. He has also cooperated with Luciano Pavarotti for his masterclasses in Modena.

            He has recorded several times for Italian (RAI), Albanian Television and Swedish and Rumanian radio. Playing four-hands with Franco Calabretto, he has recorded a CD of compositions by Gaetano Donizetti, and one of Parafrasi and Fantasie on Opera Themes by Liszt, Thalberg, Czerny for the label RivoAlto. For the label SicutSol, he has recorded a two piano version of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

Eddi De Nadai has been piano teacher (now retired) at Milan State Conservatory of Music and well requested vocal coach.
