In the period from June 15 to June 21, 2016, the State Academic Bolshoi Theater named after Alisher Navoi hosts master classes in opera with the participation of Renato Bruzon (Italy)
Renato Bruson is Italian opera singer, baritone. He was born on January 13, 1936, in Este or, according to other sources, in Grantse, Italy. In the 1970's and 90's he was the leading performer in the operas of Verdi and Donizetti. Bruzon is considered one of the most prominent Verdi baritones of the late XX and early XXI centuries.
He became the winner of the vocal contest in Spoleto in 1960. The opera debut of Bruzon was held in 1961 in the Lyrical experimental theater in Spoleto in the role of the di Luna ("Troubadour" by Verdi). The following year, he sang Riccardo ("Puritans" by Bellini) at the Rome Opera House. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1969 as Enrico (“Lucia di Lammermoor” by Donizetti). In 1970, under the direction of the conductor Riccardo Muti, Renato sang in the Verdi opera "The Masquerade" in Florence. A significant debut in La Scala took place in 1972 with the party Antonio ("Linda di Chamouni" by Donizetti), later his career was mainly associated with this theater. Then he appeared at the Edinburgh International Festival (1972) in the role of Ezio (“Attila” by Verdi), in Covent Garden in 1975 he successfully replaced Piero Cappuccilli in the opera "The Masquerade." On the stage of the Vienna Opera, he appeared in 1978 as Macbeth and was so successful that the most prestigious theater in Austria, one of the most prestigious in the world, awarded him the honorary title of Kammersänger.
In 1980, at the festival the Florentine musical May, he offered a new interpretation of the image of Iago (“Othello” by Verdi). In the 1980s, he turned to Mozart's music, singing Don Juan, and to Italian verism in the opera by Giordano "Andre Chenier." He starred in Zefirelli in the film opera “Rural Honor”. Interpretation of "Falstaff" is considered one of the greatest roles in the singer's repertoire. Bruzon is distinguished by his creative longevity, so he sang at the Viennese Opera of Germont (“La Traviata” by Verdi) at the age of seventy, this performance was shown in 2003 at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.
Bruzon is an outstanding master of bel canto. They note elegant and expressive phrasing, velvety timbre, one of the most beautiful in half a century, soft sound extraction - virtues due to natural gift and careful work on oneself. Bruzon is endowed with outstanding acting qualities, elegant and aristocratic, devoid of vulgarity and false pathos. His interpretations of Verdian roles have restored to them a true sound, lost under the influence of the spread of the verist repertoire. Some critics consider Bruzon the best Rigoletto since the time of Tito Gobbi.
