From November 23 to 29, 2014 for the first time in Tashkent will be held the XIV International Competition of the Italian Opera "Competizione dell’ opera"

Over the past 14 years, the Opera Contest named as Competizione dell' Opera has become one of the largest vocal competitions in the world. This is the only singing competition, whose repertoire includes all the wealth of the Italian opera, from the refined melodies of ancient music to the stylistic experiments of the 20th century. He propagandizes high samples of world art in wide sections of the population, serves as a bridge of friendship, connecting different cultures.


The history of the contest began in 1996 and was held in Hamburg. It was organized by Professor Hermann Rawe, who at that time was the president of the Hamburg Higher School of Music and Theater. The director was Hans-Joachim Frey. Since 2001, the contest settled in Dresden, being an inspiring institution for foreign artists, art lovers and professionals from the regions of the Elbe River to the remotest parts of the world.
In 2011 the Grand Final was solemnly held at the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater in Moscow.
In 2012 the final was held at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus.
In 2013, the competition was established in Austria in Linz, and in 2014, the final will be celebrated at the State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Navoi in Tashkent.

The most important and distinctive features of the popular opera competition are not only a lot of high-class young foreign talents, but also carefully selected jury, expertise of which young artists have to go through.

The holding of the "Competizione dell’ opera" international contest in the capital of Uzbekistan will undoubtedly become a bright phenomenon in strengthening friendly relations and a significant event in the cultural life of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as in bringing the cultures of the west and east, once again confirming that Tashkent is not only a cultural center Central Asia, but the whole East. He will acquaint the wide sections of the population with masters of the world-scale stage, as well as with gifted young vocalists.

Terms of the XIV International Contest of Italian Opera "Competizione dell' Opera"

The competition is open to singers from all countries, who study, studied or entered the music college, conservatory or other musical educational institution. Singers who have studied privately, for participation in the competition, must provide evidence of their qualifications. The coordinators of the competition decide on admission after reviewing the submitted documents. Laureates of the I Cestelli Opera Competition "Competizione dell' Opera" in 1996 or 1998, or one of the Opera Competitions "Competizione dell' Opera" in 2001-2013 are not allowed to participation in competition.

Age qualification:
for women - date of birth from 1 January 1983;
for men - from January 1, 1981.

The competition consists of preliminary listening, semifinal and final. The final is held in the form of a public concert with orchestral accompaniment. Every singer is required to listening.

If the singer for good cause can not take part in the audition, the coordinators of the contest can allow participating in an additional listening before the semifinal in Tashkent.

The semifinal will begin with registration on November 24 at the Tashkent State Conservatory and will be held from November 25 to 26, 2014 in the Palace of Arts "Turkiston".
The final round is held there on November 27, 2014.

The contest coordinators reserve the right to refuse to accept the participation form without explaining the reasons. In exceptional cases, registration can be made on the day of listening. If the participation form was sent by e-mail, the listening day is the deadline for submitting missing documents.

Each participant must prepare by heart six Italian arias in the original key.
Arias should include:
1. Four arias from the list of mandatory arias.
2. Two arias from any Italian opera by the participant's choice.

All arias must be from different operas. If the arias chosen by the participant are not in the mandatory list, the participant must attach the note text to the participation form. After that, the chosen arias can not be changed. Each participant is given an accompanist. The participant has the right at his own expense to invite his own accompanist. This should be noted in the participation form.

By signing the participation form, the participant confirms that he has read these Terms and agrees with the following:


1. The eligible competitors compete in each round. The participant must warn about the refusal of the speech in advance and present a valid reason.
2. Each competitor agrees to participate in all rehearsals and concerts related to the Competition.
3. Refusal of the rehearsals and concerts entails the cancellation of the prize.

A fee of EUR 15 is charged for participation in the competition.
The host party takes care of accommodation and meals for foreign participants.

The jury reserves the right not to award a prize or to award it together. The jury's decision is final. The jury does not have to attend all the rehearsals in full. The jury also reserves the right to listen to only fragments of arias. This right is valid for preliminary listening and semifinal.

The Opera Contest 2014 reserves the right to create, copy, distribute, process and / or edit audio and video recordings throughout the rehearsal process, preliminary listening, semi-final and final rounds. The rights granted include the right to transfer recordings to television, radio, printed publications and other electronic, digital and audiovisual media, as well as their use for advertising purposes.
The 2014 Opera Contest can also transfer these rights to television and radio broadcasting companies. The whole process of the Contest will be recorded for archival purposes. Participants are not paid any remuneration. The laureates of the Contest agree, within two years after the Competition, to mention with each performance and engagement that they are the winners of the 2014 Opera Contest.
In case of disagreement regarding the interpretation of the text of the Terms, the German version is the determining one. The decision of the jury is final and can not be appealed.

Participants can choose to perform any of the six prepared by them arias. Also, the jury reserves the right to request for execution another aria from among the declared six. At the end of the performances, the contestants selected for participation in the semifinal are announced.
