"Polovtsian Dances", a choreographic excerpt from A. Borodin's opera "Prince Igor", in M. Fokin's version, acquired the status of an independent stage ballet work.
The premiere took place in May 1909 as part of the Russian Season, Paris. "Polovtsian Dances" made a splash, leaving the impression of authentic dances of the descendants of the Scythians.
The second act of the opera, as you know, takes place in the Polovtsian camp. Here Prince Igor, his son Vladimir and other Russian soldiers languish in captivity.
The scene of "Polovtsian Dances" begins with dances and songs of the girls (chorus "Fly away on the wings of the wind"). The choreographic action is staged on the amazing beauty and melodic arias of the Polovtsian girl and Konchakovna (daughter of Khan Konchak). Then the general dance of the Polovtsians begins. The action ends with a general climactic dance.
The premiere of A. Borodin's opera "Prince Igor" took place in Tashkent in 1972, conductor A. Abdukayumov, author of the choreography of "Polovtsian Dances" G. Izmailov.
In 1998, a new production of the 3rd act of the opera by A. Borodin "Prince Igor" and "Polovtsian Stan" took place after the choreographic composition of M. Berkut.
The ballet Chopiniana (Sylphides) was staged by the outstanding Russian choreographer Mikhail Fokin in 1908 and is an elegant dance suite set to music from the piano works of the great Polish composer Frederic Chopin. (Instrumentation by A. Glazunov and M. Keller)
The Chopiniana ballet is one of the choreographer's most outstanding works. This is a dance poem, devoid of a plot, stylized in the spirit of lyric-romantic choreographic performances, which the choreographer called a "romantic dream". A wonderful choreographic fantasy about beauty, harmony and happiness, a revived world of fleeting visions and enchanting dreams that are born in the dreams of a hero - a young poet who, in Fokine's words, “strives for something different, better, living in his imagination”, replaced a clear plot scheme and the usual sequence of the stage action of classical ballet.
At the Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater, Chopiniana was staged for the first time by choreographer V. Kaminskaya in the classical version of the Mariinsky (Kirov) Theater and became one of the most popular performances in the repertoire poster and on tour of the 60-70s of the last century.
"Firebird"
Luxurious garden surrounded by a high stone wall. Above it, on a high mountain, is the castle of Kashchei the Immortal. The darkness of the night is suddenly brightened. This Firebird flew into the Kascheev garden to peck at the golden apples. Flew over and disappeared. Ivan Tsarevich appears on the wall. In pursuit of the magic bird, he climbs over the wall and looks around, not knowing where he has got to. In the depths of the garden, Ivan sees a row of petrified knights. They previously came to this garden, trying to regain their brides, kidnapped by the evil Kashchei. He turned all of them into boulders, which were already overgrown with moss. Ivan is not up to them now, he wants to catch the Firebird.
Again a flash of blinding light, and a new flight of the bird. Ivan is hiding. The Firebird sparkles and sparkles. When she approached the tree with golden apples, the prince catches her. The bird tries to escape, beats, trembles, but its strength gradually weakens. The Firebird descends to the ground and piteously begs for mercy. Ivan feels sorry for her, and he releases the Firebird free. In gratitude, she gives the prince her fiery feather. “It will come in handy for you,” the Firebird promises and flies away.
Ivan Tsarevich already wants to leave the garden, as 13 captive princesses descend from the top of the castle, among them the incomparable Beloved Beauty. In long white shirts, barefoot, they came at night to frolic and play with golden apples. Not seeing Ivan, the girls throw apples over and laugh. But the apple of Beloved Beauty flew to the wall where Ivan was hiding. He picked up the apple and returned it to the girls with a bow. Those at first are afraid of the stranger, but, seeing his beauty and courtesy, I take him into my round dances. Morning is coming. The girls run away to the castle, Ivan tries to catch up with them, but Beloved Beauty stops him. "You will perish if you open the golden gate that leads up to the castle." She warned and left, closing those magic gates.
Without hesitation for a long time, Ivan cuts the gates with a saber, and a terrible chime announces the garden. Kashcheevo's kingdom woke up. Various monsters rush to the good fellow, but he easily throws them off his shoulders. Kashchei himself appears - a tall, skeletal-like old man. Calls Ivan for interrogation. He came closer, even wanted to take off his hat to greet the owner, but when he saw the sorcerer's nasty face, he just spat in his direction out of annoyance. The surrounding scum growled with indignation and fell hard on the prince. In vain, the captives pray to Kashchei to forgive Ivan, he gets angry in earnest and casts a spell. The servants fled, - Ivan will now turn to stone. Gathering his last strength, the prince pulls out a feather from his bosom. He just waved, and the Fire-type had already flown in to help.
The bright light dazzles those around them, they are forced to start a nasty dance. The whirlwind of dance picked up and whirled different kikimor, b
